DEERFIELD PARK DISTRICT PRESCHOOL SAFETY GUIDELINES
Deerfield Park District understands the feeling of uncertainty during these unprecedented times. Please be assured, safety is our top priority for all participants and staff. Before classes begin, all employees are trained on Deerfield Park District’s health and safety protocols that are aligned with DCFS, IDPH, CDC and DCEO. All precautions will be taken, including frequent hand hygiene, wearing facial coverings, health screenings with temperature checks, physical distancing, and restricted access to our classrooms.

*Please note that all protocols can be adjusted as state and federal guidelines change.*
CLASSROOMS
Classes will operate at a reduced capacity based on DCFS guidelines. The children will remain in a stable “pod” and will not be interchanged or mixed.
PPE
All staff and children will be required to wear facial coverings. Staff may utilize a shield in lieu of a mask during expressive activities such as storytime. Children may remove their masks during snack time and when able to physically distance while outside.
HEALTH SCREENINGS
All preschool participants and staff must register a temperature under 100.4, without fever-reducing medicine, when they arrive. Temperatures will be taken using a no-touch thermometer. Families will complete a health screening daily attesting to the health of and lack of exposure to COVID-19 for their children before entrance to the preschool is granted. Any person with a fever or a failed health screening will not be allowed to enter the classrooms.
CLEANING PROTOCOLS
Common areas of the preschool are cleaned hourly. High touch areas in the classroom will be regularly disinfected. Shared toys and other manipulatives will be cleaned after use. Each child will have their own supply box to reduce shared materials.
