Prior to the Patty Turner Center being built, the senior center was previously known as the fieldhouse, which was officially converted into a senior center in 1982



History

  • 1995 planning service obtained for a senior center
  • 1998 district receives $100,000 State of Illinois grant
  • 2000 the District began discussions with the village to utilize Brickyards Park for senior center site and receipt of substantial contribution from Fred Turner for naming of the senior facility, the Patty Turner Senior Center.
  • 2002 groundbreaking ceremony held
  • 2003 grand opening of facility in conjunction with the 100-year Village celebration. Patty Turner Center received accreditation from the National Committee On Aging/National Institute of Senior Centers
  • 2008 Patty Turner Senior Center celebrates 5-year anniversary
  • 2009 Patty Turner Senior Center name changed to Patty Turner Center
  • 2010 Patty Turner Center receives accreditation from the National Committee On Aging/National Institute of Senior Centers (NCOA/NISC)
  • 2021 park district developed and approved Facility Use Agreement with Doctors Testing Center to hold a COVID-19 Vaccination Clinic at PTC
  • 2021 two rain barrels installed at PTC
  • 2021 new air purification and ionization units were installed on building HVAC units at JPCC and PTC
