History

  • 1971 referendum passed to partially fund the purchase of the golf course
  • 1972 golf course is fully purchased
  • 1972 reciprocal agreement created with Northbrook Park District for golf course and indoor ice rink use
  • 1979 golf clubhouse built
  • 1980 opening of clubhouse
  • 1984 received $10,000 donation from local builder, Sven Flodstrom, for fitness center on golf clubhouse lower level
  • 1987 golf course master plan was accepted by the board
  • 1991 lower level fitness center closes
  • 1997 the Board began working with an architect on the development of a conceptual plan for improvement at the golf course
  • 1999 board issued $4,000,000 in bonds for improvements to the Deerfield Golf Course
  • 2001 Phase II Golf Course improvements inclusive of the Driving Range and Learning Center, new flagpole and landscaping dedicated to Bud Stryker and entrance into the golf course named Joe Brown Memorial Drive
  • 2002 first PGA Golf Professional hired
  • 2005 9-hole reservations offered
  • 2012 golf course begins a phased plan for bunker renovations
  • 2015 construction of a halfway house
  • 2017 driving range receives 2017 Golf Range Association Top 50 Facility Recognition
  • 2019 irrigation pump system improvements at Deerfield Golf Club completed.
  • 2021 park district develops Introduction to Beekeeping class and installs 2 beehives at golf course
