Members of the Village’s Sustainability Commission and Deerfield Park District invite you to join us for a guided educational tree walk!
Saturday, September 21 @ 10 a.m.
- Located at Jewett Park starting at the Hazel Avenue Parking Lot
- 2 Village Arborists will provide a guided tour of trees mostly on the north end of the park including the 200+ year old Oak trees
- Learn about caring for trees including mulching, tips for newly planted trees and protecting trees during construction and mowing
- Understand the benefits trees provide including helping manage stormwater, carbon absorption and habitat for animals
- Visit 8 stations to see examples of tree stresses such as storm damage, invasive trees, tree cavities, soil compaction and root girdling
- First 50 participants receive a free reusable “Green Up Deerfield” tote bag and free tree saplings
- Note: Not all areas of the tour will be on a paved path or ADA accessible. The event is rain or shine.
