Looking for Volunteers for Local Government Efficiency Committee
The Deerfield Park District is looking for citizens to serve on its Local Government Efficiency Committee. The district is required to form a Committee on Local Government Efficiency pursuant to state statutes. The committee will study local government efficiencies and issue a report to the Lake County Board. The Committee will be comprised of the Park Board of Commissioners, at least two citizens and district staff. The committee is required to meet a minimum of three times anytime from June 2023 to December 2024 and file a report to Lake County by December 2024. Citizens applying for the volunteer positions should expect to meet a minimum of three times during this time frame. The meetings are anticipated to be held on the first or third Thursdays of the month during regularly scheduled Workshops or regular Board Meetings starting at 7:00 pm.
The duties of the committee are to:
- Study the park district’s governing statutes, ordinances, rules, procedures, powers, jurisdiction, shared services, intergovernmental agreements and interrelationships with other government units and the State of Illinois, and
- Collect data, research and analysis as necessary to prepare a written report that includes recommendations with respect to increased accountability and efficiency, and
- Provide a written report to the administrative office of the county board of each county in which the government unit is located.
This is an opportune way to learn about the park district’s operations and services and help support the district’s mission. Applications are due by May 2, 2023. Applications can be dropped off in person at the Jewett Park Community Center or emailed to Jeff Nehila, Executive Director at jeff@deerfieldparks.org.
