Naming of Chicago Sky Gym at Deerfield Park District’s Sachs Recreation Center

At the Deerfield Park District Board Meeting on October 21, 2021, Deerfield Park District Board President Rick Patinkin read resolution 2021-07 recognizing the WNBA Chicago Sky for winning the 2021 WNBA Championship. The Deerfield Park District also announced that it would officially rename the Chicago Bulls Gym at Sachs Recreation Center the Chicago Sky Gym.

Since then, the Chicago Sky Gym has taken on a whole new look. The floors were sanded and refinished adding our new Sachs Recreation Center logo alongside the WNBA logo and Chicago Sky logo. The rest of the Sky’s official practice facility received a facelift as well with new padding and paint, changing out the red and black for blue and yellow.

On April 15, just days before the team began their 2022 practice season, Park District Executive Director Jeff Nehila and Park District Commissioners Michael Brown and Debbie Serota joined Chicago Sky General Manager and Head Coach James Wade and Vice President of Basketball Operations, Strength and Conditioning Ann Crosby for an official ribbon cutting. Immediately following the ribbon cutting, Coach Wade did us the honor of shooting the first basket on the newly refinished court!

We are thrilled to recognize the entire Chicago Sky organization for their amazing success in 2021 and we look forward to watching them train and practice in the newly designed Chicago Sky Gym space at Sachs Recreation Center in Deerfield.
