Patty Turner Center Vaccination Open to Lake County Students Ages 12 – 15

The Patty Turner Center vaccination site will offer the Pfizer-BioNTech vaccine to Lake County middle/junior high school students starting the week of May 17, pending Emergency Use Authorization (EUA) from the U.S. Food and Drug Administration. It is anticipated that the EUA for the Pfizer-BioNTech vaccine to be administered to people ages 12-15 will be granted by early next week.

In anticipation of the EUA, the Village of Deerfield partnered with Deerfield Public Schools District 109 to secure designated dates and times to begin administering shots to students of Alan B. Shepard Middle School and Charles J. Caruso Middle School. Vaccines will be administered by medical professionals of Doctors Test Centers (DTC) at the Patty Turner Center on three dates: May 17, May 20, and May 24.

A registration link will be provided directly to School District 109 families once the EUA is granted. A parent or legal guardian must accompany the child in order for them to receive a vaccine. Following the first dose, patients will register on-site for their second dose.

“We are proud to work with our community partners, allowing our families a convenient vaccination option,” said Mike Simeck, Superintendent of Schools for Deerfield Public Schools District 109. “It’s critical we do what we can to provide peace of mind and allow our students to focus on their studies and grow as individuals.”

Following these three dates, parents (or guardians) for children ages 12-15 throughout Lake County will be able to register online for vaccine appointments. Additional registration information will be available at DoctorsTestCenters.com/Vaccine in the coming weeks.

“The mass vaccination site located at the Patty Turner Center continues to be a meaningful community asset reducing the spread of COVID-19 in this region of Lake County and preventing hospitalizations among the most vulnerable,” said Deerfield Mayor Dan Shapiro. “The partnership with Deerfield Public Schools District 109 targets another key demographic and will help to ensure the entire household is able to get vaccinated.”

The Patty Turner Center vaccination site, located at 375 Elm Street, Deerfield, IL 60015, is operated by Doctors Test Centers (DTC), in partnership with the Lake County Health Department. The site typically operates between the hours of 9 a.m. to 5 p.m. Monday through Friday. This site serves approximately 2,000 vaccine appointments weekly and began operations on March 30.
