R.E.C. Remote Enrichment Care
The Deerfield Park District understands the need for care this fall for students of working parents. To help alleviate this stress and allow for safe, social interaction, we will be offering our R.E.C. program for children enrolled in grades 1-4 in District 109. This program will begin on August 24, 2020, and run 8:30 am-12:30 pm and 12:30-3:30 pm on days when school is in session. Face masks will be required for all staff and children except for eating and when outdoors while maintaining a 6-foot distance. Frequent hand washing and sanitizer use will take place throughout the day. Families will be required to complete a brief health screening questionnaire prior to dropping their child off each day.
Each group will have a maximum of 10 students (grouped by grade) and two staff. R.E.C. staff will supervise students while they work remotely on their schoolwork in accordance with the remote learning schedule. Please be advised that our staff will be able to assist with minor issues as needed but will not act as a tutor or teacher during this time. This program is intended only for self-directed learners. Each student must supply their own laptop and headphones with a microphone each day, in addition to any other school supplies they may need. Lunch is included in this program and will be provided daily by Marla’s Brown Bag Lunch.
Lottery and Registration
Due to the limited number of spots available, registration for this program will be done by lottery. Registration will begin at 9 am on August 5, 2020, and will end promptly on August 12, 2020. We encourage participants to register by the lottery deadline of 5 pm on August 12, 2020. This gives all participants an equal opportunity to register for this program. To be included in the random computerized lottery, your registration must be received by park district staff by 5 pm on August 12, 2020. For your convenience, you may mail, drop off or fax your registration form. A deposit will not be required to register for the lottery. Payment for the first month will be due in full when you are contacted for a spot.
*This program will not run on scheduled days off in accordance with the District 109 school calendar. This program is scheduled to run as long as District 109 is offering remote learning only.
