Community Update on Park District Operations

Deerfield Park District
COVID-19 Community Update on Park District Operations
JUNE 11, 2020

As we move through Phase 3 of the Restore Illinois Plan, we can now provide additional services and programs. Listed below is more information relating to some of those expansions of services since our last update on June 10:

Tennis: Due to popular demand, we will continue to provide the reservation system through the fall for park district courts at Mitchell, Briarwood and Deerspring Parks. We will also continue to coordinate with Deerfield High School and provide court availability on our reservation system (which may change as they determine needs for their sports and other programs). We do ask that you do not overbook times and be considerate of others trying to utilize the same service. Also, a reminder that dogs are not permitted on tennis courts.

Jaycee Dog Park: The Jaycee Dog Park will open on Saturday, June 13.

Volleyball: Nets will be installed at Mitchell and Deerspring Parks the week of June 15. Please comply with gathering limits of no more than 10 people.

Pools: As we have previously posted, our plan is to open Mitchell Pool on July 6. We await additional guidelines for operations which will dictate what the exact parameters of open swim will be. We will continue to pursue offering that component of aquatics this year. More information on the Mitchell Pool operations will be provided as additional guidelines are received. Due to the time frame available for pool operation preparation and continuing fluctuation of final guidelines for safety and compliance, Deerspring Pool will not open in 2020.

Playgrounds: Playgrounds will continue to be closed through Phase 3 as per guidance from the State of Illinois Department of Commerce and Economic Opportunity General Counsel’s Office. More updates will be provided once guidelines are received from the DCEO.

Further information on programs and services will continually be updated on the district’s website. Thank you again for your perseverance in helping us get to a time where we can safely open and operate facilities and offer more services.
