On Friday, October 12, the Deerfield Park District and the Chicago Sky received the Illinois Association of Park District’s Best of the Best Partnership Award. This award is intended to recognize non-governmental organizations that have collaborated with a park district, forest preserve, conservation, recreation or special recreation agency in a significant manner, thereby enabling the public agency to initiate a major capital improvement program, or pursue a campaign, initiative or project that enhanced resident’s quality of life and would not have been achievable without this partnership.
The unique partnership between the Chicago Sky and the Deerfield Park District began in 2011 when a portion of the 100,000 square foot Sachs Recreation Center became the Sky’s practice facility. This relationship has created numerous benefits for the park district and community over the past seven years.
Chicago Sky players and coaches are role models who lead on the court and in the community. In addition to the amazing impact the players have on the court, through the Sky Cares Foundation, the team is deeply committed to creating programs that improve the quality of life for all people. By emphasizing promoting healthy lifestyles, increasing positive self-image, military and veteran support and youth and family development through educational initiatives the Chicago Sky Cares Foundation is a perfect parallel to park district initiatives.
We are proud of the time, talent and resources shared by the Chicago Sky with the Deerfield Park District and thankful that so many local individuals receive the benefit of the Chicago Sky’s commitment and passion for sports, recreation, healthy lifestyles and community initiatives. We look forward to continuing this vital partnership.
