Sachs Recreation Center wins "Outstanding Facility" Award from Illinois Park and Recreation Association

The Sachs Recreation Center was selected to receive the "Outstanding Facility" Award from the Illinois Park and Recreation Association (IPRA) for 2009. The Sachs Recreation Center was recognized for its “exceptional and unique achievements in design and development.” The Sachs Recreation Center is a family-friendly community center where everyone is welcome to sign up for programs, events and services, and where individuals 16 years and up may join the Fitness Center. The Sachs Recreation Center offers Open Gym, Open Swim, indoor tennis and racquetball, a before-and after- kindergarten program, a free game room for students in grades 5-10, a café, spa and much more. Fitness Center memberships offer use of the state-of-the-art fitness center, weight rooms, walking/running track, personal training and a myriad of group exercise classes. A babysitting service is also offered.
IPRA indicated in a congratulatory letter to Deerfield Park District, “It is an honor to announce that your nomination scored the highest total points among those entries submitted in your division and category from across the State of Illinois.” A plaque which will be displayed at the Sachs Recreation Center is forthcoming. Division II, into which Deerfield Park District falls, includes agencies with last know equalized assed valuation of $400 million or more. The Multiple Use category includes facilities such as community centers, health and fitness centers and recreation centers. The letter from IPRA goes on to state, “A copy of your portfolio will be added to the IPRA resource library.” Sachs Recreation Center will also be highlighted on large video screens during the annual conference Awards Luncheon on January 29, 2010. The Conference, hosting thousands of attendees from across the State, is presented by the Illinois Association of Park Districts (IAPD) and IPRA.
