Not only the birthplace of the Juicy Fruit chewing gum and the Ferris Wheel, the World’s Fair also marked the triumphant debut of our very own Field Museum.

This mansion was designed for Samuel M. Nickerson by one of Chicago’s earliest architects, Edward J. Burling of the architectural firm of Burling & Whitehouse. Construction took 4 years and cost $450,000; reportedly the most expensive and elaborate private residence in Chicago at the time of its completion in 1883. Join us as we visit and tour this magnificent residence along with the home’s elaborate rooms, 1500 pieces of treasured objects, furnishings and significant collection of Tiffany art.
