Debra Levie, photography teacher at Columbia College Chicago and leader of a popular monthly Art Appreciation class at the Patty Turner Center, is the featured artist for the month of November at Patty Turner Center (PTC), in Deerfield.
Levie’s bio explains, “Countless photographs have been exhibited in galleries and published in traditional print, book, and electronic media. Her work is in private and museum collections including The Art Institute of Chicago. A mid-westerner by birth, Levie studied at Beloit College, The Philadelphia College of Art/University of the Arts earning her B.F.A. studying with Ray K. Metzker and Doris Staffel. At The School of the Art Institute of Chicago, Levie earned her M.F.A. studying with Barbara Crane, Jin Soo Kim, and Marilyn Houlberg.”
Levie writes, “The title of this exhibition at the PTC during the month of November Listen! The Crickets Have Stopped is from a Ray Bradbury novel, Mars is Heaven. “Bradbury is a favorite author of mine. I’ve always wanted to use the lineas a title for an exhibit or body of work. Because this body of work involves looking up into the sky, the title just seemed to fit.”
Levie adds, “All the pieces on display during November at the Patty Turner Sale are for sale. Potential purchases may contact Debra Levie directly at firstname.lastname@example.org for information regarding prices.
PTC Program (and Art Wall) Coordinator Jill Becker concludes, “We are proud and excited to have Debra featured as our November Artist of the Month. The public is welcome to stop by the Patty Turner Center, 375 Elm Street, in Deerfield, during regular hours, to view Debra’s works.
